How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Ducktail Beard Shape
The ducktail beard shape can be fun to grow and looks great on the right facial type. Here are the steps to grow one out.
1. Grow Out A Full Beard
To begin growing out a ducktail beard, you will need a full beard; at least enough hair on your chin for the right effect. You can keep your jawline and mustache shorter if you’d like, but you will want enough length on your chin and neck hairs to bring them to a point. Use beard serum as you grow out your beard so that you can get it nice and thick.
2. Trim And Style The Facial Hair
Once you have a beard of two to four inches in length, you can trim and style it the way you want. Use a beard trimmer or scissors to even out the lengths of your facial hair, so it’s uniform. You can use beard butter to help shape your beard while keeping it soft. Make sure you let your chin hair grow out for the next step.
3. Bring Your Chin Hair To A Point
Finally, you want to go for the classic ducktail beard style by pulling your beard hairs into a point at your chin. A beard brush and a beard straightener will work wonders here. Use a beard brush daily to tame the hairs to the front of your chin. Use the beard straightener after a hot shower to flatten down those hairs and shape the ducktail beard style.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect ducktail beard:
- Beard Boost Serum: Promotes a healthy, thick beard with all-natural ingredients.
- Beard Butter - Original: It helps style your beard and keeps it hydrated so that it doesn’t turn hard and brittle.
- Beard Straightener - V2.0: The perfect tool in your arsenal to straighten out your beard hair and tame it into the ducktail beard point.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Trimmed Beard Shape
Growing a trimmed beard will take time and proper care to ensure it’s groomed properly. Here are the steps to grow one yourself.
1. Grow A Full Beard
To get the best-looking trimmed beard you can, you will first need to grow a decently sized beard around one to three inches in length. You need to ensure that you have good coverage so that it won’t look patchy when you trim it. That means you should grow your beard out maybe an inch or so past the size you are actually aiming for. Daily beard supplements can help you grow your beard if you’re having trouble.
2. Trim The Facial Hair
Once you have passed the desired length that you want for your beard, it’s time to trim it back. This will make sure that all of the hairs are of a uniform size. Trimming can also help promote healthy growth in your beard, so to keep it maintained, you may find yourself trimming every one to two weeks.
Use a good beard clipper, or get a grooming set with a comb and scissors to trim those hairs. The comb guides by letting in the hairs you want to trim. Then use clippers or scissors to cut off the unwanted hair. Do this for your whole beard, and make sure you are pulling through the same size length in the comb each time.
3. Shave Clean Lines
After you have trimmed down your beard, it is time to clean up your lines. That means shaving around the cheek and neck area, so give it a sharp look. Place a beard-shaping tool against your cheek or neckline and use the tool's edges to shave around. This flat area of the tool will give you a straight line, and the curved edges will help get a nice shape around your cheek and sideburns. We recommend a good shave lube, so your face doesn’t become irritated.
4. Wash And Repeat
Finally, you should wash your beard off of any cut hair. You can use a beard wash to clean it and then use a nice butter afterwards to soften it and make it smell fresh. Then take a beard brush and brush down those facial hairs uniformly. Your new trimmed beard looks great, and all you have to do now is maintain it weekly by trimming, shaving, and keeping it clean.

Here’s a shorter, yet still very obvious, version of his Dali mustache.
How to Grow and Maintain The Dali Mustache
The most important part of growing a Dali mustache is the product you use to style it. Follow these tips to imitate this famous look.
1. Grow out your mustache.
Start by growing out your mustache to at least the point where it starts to fall below your lipline. At this point, you can begin to “train” your mustache by using a comb and beard butter to style and pull the sides outward and slightly upward.
2. Start styling your mustache outward and upward.
After several months of growth, you’ll be able to split your mustache to either side and style the hair with a slight upward curl. As it gets longer, you may need to use beeswax to get the shape to stay.
3. Maintain the style.
To maintain this style, we recommend using a grooming kit that contains a comb, scissors, and a safety razor. You can use the scissors to trim the ends of your mustache and keep it at your desired length. Use the razor to keep the rest of your face clean-shaven and keep the focus on your mustache. Finally, you’ll want to use the comb daily to style your mustache.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get The Dali look:
- Wild Willies Beard Butter - Cool Mint: to style and train your mustache upward.
- The Expert Grooming Kit: to trim, style, and maintain your mustache.
- Shave Lube: for shaving off the rest of your facial hair.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Pyramidal Mustache Shape
Growing out a pyramidal mustache doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are the steps it takes to style one.
1. Grow The Mustache
The first step you need to do is to grow out the mustache. They can be thick or thin, but you will be styling them later, so we recommend growing them at least a half inch past your desired length. This will give you room to trim the mustache properly. Try some delicious-tasting beard growth gummy supplements if you have difficulty growing facial hair.
2. Trim And Style The Mustache
Next, you need to style the mustache to get the right look. This mustache resembles an actual pyramid, so it should narrow near the bottom of the nose and get wider towards the upper lip. Use scissors to trim it down to the desired length and a good razor to shave it into the right shape. You can elect to keep it as thick or thin as you’d like, but the overall design should eventually look like a pyramid.
3. Shave Unwanted Hair
Finally, you will need to finish shaving the rest of your face. The pyramidal mustache is the highlight of this look, so it’s best not to have a beard. Warm your face with hot water and lather it with quality shave lube. Then shave your face of unwanted hair around your cheeks, jawline, and neck area. You can finish by ensuring you have straight lines for your mustache. Shaving around a beard-shaping tool's edges can help you with your lines.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect pyramidal mustache:
- Beard Growth Gummies Supplements: Contains the vitamins and minerals your facial hair needs to grow thick and long.
- Shave Lube: This shave lube will keep your face refreshed and combat itchiness or irritation.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect El Bandito Mustache Shape
The el bandito mustache is thicker and has curled upwards slightly in recent years. Here is how to grow one out.
1. Grow The Mustache Out
First, you must grow a thick mustache to get this look right. Banditos weren’t known for being the best groomed, so this mustache is typically rugged. The hair should extend past the center of your lips and must be at least one to two inches long. Applying beard serum to the facial hair will aid in it growing out quicker and longer.
2. Trim The Facial Hair
Even though the el bandito mustache is rugged, you still need to trim the hair every so often. Trimming the hair as it grows out will help it grow more. Also, these mustaches are usually pretty even in length, so it’s good to get into a habit of trimming at least every other week. Then apply some beard butter to the mustache and rub it in well. This will keep the hair from becoming brittle.
3. Curl The Ends
The last step to modernize your bandito mustache is to tidy it up and put a slight curl on the tips. If you want a more rugged style, then you can skip this step and let your mustache grow. Get a beard straightener and apply it to the mustache for a newer look. Use a downward motion and pull the straightener through the mustache several times. This will get all of the hair uniforms going in the same direction. Then use your thumb and fingers to twist the ends of the mustache upwards.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect el bandito mustache:
- Beard Boost Serum: Contains all-natural ingredients that will help you grow a luscious full mustache.
- Beard Butter - Original: This beard butter will keep your mustache moisturized so that it doesn’t become hard and will prevent skin irritation.
- Beard Straightener - V2.0: Use this beard straightener to help tame those unruly mustache hairs.
