How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Bushy Beard Shape
It takes a lot of work and time to grow a massive bushy beard, but if you want to try it, here is how.
1. Grow, Grow, Grow
Obviously, the first step to a big bushy beard is to grow the thing out. Depending on how fast you grow facial hair, this can take anywhere from one to six months of growing and nurturing. You can use a beard serum with ingredients such as caffeine and biotin designed to help naturally grow your hair faster and thicker.
2. Groom, Trim, Style
As your beard starts to grow and get bigger, you should still work on trimming and grooming it. By trimming your facial hair, you are helping it to grow faster and thicker. You can style the beard any way you’d like, but the main thing to keep in mind is getting it bushy. You do that by brushing it outwards away from your face and neckline. Use a quality beard brush to help with this, but don’t worry about using special products to wax or shape it. Remember, the key here is to get it bushy!
3. Clean, Moisturize, Soften
Finally, you will also want to ensure that you keep your beard healthy and clean. This means using a beard wash daily to remove dirt and grime without stripping the facial hair of its essential oils. Once clean, you should rub some beard butter in to keep it hydrated, moisturized, and soft. That way, your beard can grow and get bushy, but still, look great as you show off your accomplishment.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect bushy beard:

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Salt And Pepper Beard Shape
To grow a salt and pepper beard, you must be old enough for white hair to come in. Here are some steps to make it look good and maintain it.
1. Grow Out Your Peppered Beard
To begin, you will need to get some facial hair going. Start by letting your wisdom whiskers grow to a point where you’d like. It can be short and stubbly or long and bushy. Either way, you will need to be ok with the white hairs changing up your beard color. Some people find this even more attractive than a solid-colored beard.
2. Style The Beard And Mustache
Once your beard has grown, you will need to trim and style it. We recommend grabbing The Expert Grooming Kit, which has everything you need to cut, style, and shave your beard. Use the included razor and beard-shaping tool, along with a nice shave lube, to get clean lines. Hold the tool up to your cheeks, jawline, or neckline, and use the tool's edges to cut around. This will ensure you have straight lines or perfectly curved lines for your face.
3. Nurture And Maintain Your Beard
Finally, make sure that you are taking good care of your beard. That means using healthy beard products like shampoos, beard washes, and beard oils to promote hair that is soft, clean, and marvelous. You will want to wash your beard daily, and you can use the oil once or twice a day, depending on how you like. How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Horseshoe Beard Shape
The following steps will show you what it takes to grow your own horseshoe beard.
1. Begin With A Goatee
You will first need a decent goatee to create a good horseshoe beard. Your facial hairs around the goatee should be at least half an inch or more in length. That goes for the mustache, around the mouth, and down to the chinline. You want nice, thick hair for this, so we suggest taking daily supplements to help speed up growth.
2. Shave Off The Chin Area
The next, and most iconic part of this style, is to shave off the chin area. You will want to create a straight line down the sides of your mouth with your facial hair. The hair can stop at your chin line or continue down into your neck if preferred. You can use a beard-shaping tool to help you get those cuts straight. Hold the tool to your horseshoe beard as you trim and shave away unnecessary areas.
3. Clean Up The Lines
Finally, you will want to finish shaving and cleaning up the rest of your horseshoe beard. The cheek lines and neck should be shaved. Generally, there are no sideburns either, so you can go ahead and shave those off. Make sure you are using quality shave lube, so you don’t get your skin irritated.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect horseshoe:
- Beard Growth Supplements: Promote fast and thick facial hair with all-natural vitamins and minerals.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Curtain Beard Shape
A curtain beard can help widen your jawline and make you look more massive. Here are the steps to grow one out.
1. Grow Out A Large Beard
The first step to getting a curtain beard is having long facial hair under your chin. This requires growing a big beard, usually two inches or more in length. Depending on how fast your facial hair grows, this could take a month or more but still with it, and you’ll be happy with the results. We recommend daily beard gummie supplements to help you grow a nice, thick beard.
2. Keep The Front Facial Hair Shaved
As your beard hair grows around your neck and under your chin, you’ll want to keep the rest of your facial hair shaven. This is the defining look of the curtain beard and something you might need to do multiple times a week. Use a good shave lube and nice grooming set to keep those hairs at bay. You’ll want to shave off your mustache, soul patch, and front chin hairs and along your sideburns.
3. Groom And Style The Beard
Finally, you need to groom and style the curtain beard. You can use clippers and a beard brush to shape your beard. Take the clippers and carefully cut away any unwanted hair. The brush will help lay down the hairs in a uniform direction. You can use a beard-shaping tool to get nice even lines if you are having trouble. After that, it’s just maintaining the beard by keeping it groomed and shaving off the facial hair, as mentioned before.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect curtain beard:

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Shaggy Beard Shape
The great thing about growing a shaggy beard is that the less attention you pay to it, the better it looks. Follow these simple steps to get the look.
1. Grow out your beard.
A shaggy beard looks best when it has several inches of growth, ideally at least 2-3”. As you grow out your beard, use this beard growth kit, which includes growth supplements and a growth serum. Take the supplements daily as part of your multivitamin routine, and use the serum by applying a small amount to your beard daily to increase growth and restore moisture.
2. Don’t shave your cheeks.
While some beard styles look better with defined lines around the cheeks and sides, we prefer this look to creep up naturally toward the cheeklines. So ditch the razor for awhile!
3. Let your mustache grow into your beard.
A shaggy beard looks best with a mustache that grows downward and blends into the beard. You can use trimming scissors if the hair above your lip gets too long, but let the sides grow down.
4. Keep your beard moisturized.
There’s no need to brush out or style this particular look, but you do want to keep it clean and moisturized so you don’t look and feel like a porcupine. Wash daily with a beard shampoo and then follow up with this hemp beard elixir to moisturize, strengthen, and nourish your beard.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect shaggy beard:
- Beard Growth Kit: to stimulate beard growth.
- PROGRO Beard Shampoo: to cleanse and hydrate your beard.
- Hemp Beard Elixer - Wild Vanilla Spice: to moisturize, strengthen, and nourish your beard.

How to Grow and Maintain the Perfect Handlebar Mustache
The handlebar mustache can be fun and looks great if pulled off correctly. Here are the steps to make one yourself.
1. Grow The Mustache
The first step in growing this style is having a long mustache. There are different lengths of handlebar mustaches, but generally speaking, it needs to be longer than you think. When you begin styling it, it will shorten in length, so make sure you have enough facial hair to work with. We recommend growing your hair at least one to two inches. Use beard serum to promote natural hair growth if you have trouble growing hair or it’s just not thick enough.
2. Style The Mustache
After you have gotten your mustache long enough to work with, it’s time to style it. Handlebar mustaches can be combed straight out, but typically they are curled upward towards the nose. This curved mustache look is the defining feature, so you want to take your time to get this right. Use a dime-sized beard balm and rub it between your index finger, middle finger, and thumb. Next, twist your mustache hairs on the ends by rolling them back and forth with your fingers. This will get them clumped together, and the balm will help solidify the shape. Finally, wrap your mustache around your index finger. This twirling around your finger will create a curved mustache. It takes practice, but you’ll get it if you work at it long enough.
3. Shave And Cleanup
Once you have gotten the mustache where you want it, it’s time to clean up. At this point, you can either keep your beard or shave it off. It doesn’t really matter either way, but if you want to accent the handlebar mustache, then it’s recommended you shave your beard. This will bring the focus only to the mustache. Use a good razor and quality shave lube to shave off the beard. You can leave the sideburns as long as you’d wish.
Here are some of our favorite product recommendations to help you get the perfect handlebar mustache:
- Beard Boost Serum: All-natural ingredients help promote a healthy and thick set of facial hair.
- Beard Butter Balm & Brush Combo Set: Style your mustache while keeping it moisturized and soft. It also comes with a brush to brush out your hair.
- Shave Lube: Professional-grade shave lube that keeps your skin feeling fresh without all of the irritation.
